Man pistol-whipped on Lincoln Park street

Two men and a woman have been arrested after police said one of them pistol-whipped a man during an attempted robbery in Lincoln Park late last night. The three suspects approached a 32-year-old man shortly before midnight in the 2700 block of North Hampden Court, police said. One of the male attackers, armed with a semi-automatic pistol, struck the victim in the ear with the barrel of the weapon and demanded money, police continued. The victim broke free and was able to flag down a police car. He was expected to be treated and lacerations to his ear and released from a hospital. The suspects fled in a car, but later abandoned it and began running when police spotted them. Officers gave chase and took them into custody. (Read article)

Sox fan’s excitement runs down her leg

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Have I ever shared with you my thoughts on Chicago? How about White Sox fans? I have? Oh, well hopefully you’ll enjoy this as much as I did last night. So I went to the Tigers game at U.S. Cellular. It was a pretty pathetic performance by the Tigers, losing 1-5 in a game they never really got started. After the game, I faced the intelligent wrath of a drunken Sox fan. He made sure to let me know that my team sucked, my Tigers jersey sucked, I sucked, and that his team was in first place - all while clapping his hands. Thanks, buddy, I look forward to seeing you and 75,000 like you at the Lions vs Bears game this fall. Anyway, on to the best part of the show. As we were leaving, I noticed two female Sox fans stumbling all over the ramp and sidewalk. Then I took a closer look… at the pants of the girl on the right. Much to my surprise, but thinking back I shouldn’t have been, she had completely wet herself. It’s one of those stories that I thought “people won’t get the full effect if I tell them.” So it’s a good thing my little camera has video mode and it’s a better thing there’s a site known as YouTube.

Harbor Lights Triathlon

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Jen had a triathlon in Waukegan, IL yesterday. The weather was perfect for it, at least by a spectators standards: high 70s to low 80s, overcast and the thundershowers held off. The race was kicked off with a speech from Waukegan mayor, Dick Hyde… and I think I may be the only who still chuckles at that. I saw a couple people I used to work with at the NRA but didn’t get a chance to stop them and say hi. She did very well too, improving on her times from her last tri. Apparently all that waking up at 4:45 am to train has been paying off!
