…not because it’s the 50th running of the Daytona 500. I’m not a big fan of the sport, if you can call it a sport, but I do give them respect for milking those living in the red states of all their hard earned money.
It’s not because tonight is the NBA All-Star Game. I can’t name three people playing in the game. I will say I did watch the Slam Dunk contest last night and it was probably the best one I’ve ever seen. Gerald Green’s birthday cake dunk would have won any other year, but Dwight Howard’s three dunks were absolutely amazing. 1) An alley-oop to himself from behind the backboard; 2) dressing as Superman and throwing the ball into the hoop from above the rim; 3) bouncing the ball off the floor to then bounce it off the backboard and finally slam it down. Impressive agility and he’s 7′ tall!
It’s not because today is Kurt’s 26th birthday. Happy Birthday, Kurt. I hope all is well out west. I’d sure as hell rather be in Phoenix than Chicago today (and most days).
But today is an exciting day because… drum roll please… today is my long-awaited fantasy baseball draft. Yes, that’s right, nerd alert. It’s season two of our 16-team, head-to-head fantasy baseball league. We’ve been wheeling and dealing, anticipating this day. The draft is quite possibly the most exciting day of the fantasy season. I will be panning over stats for the majority of the day, making predictions, and hopefully building the best team possible. I’m already starting off the season with Ryan Howard, Jose Reyes, and Carlos Lee - much nicer than most other teams three keepers in my opinion. Yeah, it’s probably a good thing I already have a girlfriend.
