Voting in Chicago
Wednesday, November 8th, 2006Last night, one of my softball teammates walks into the bar (aka batting practice) before the game and the first words out of her mouth were, God damn it, Blagojevich just won, visibly disturbed by the governor’s reelection. Another teammate then asked, oh, did you want Topinka to win? ”And her response was, oh, hell no.” Super Tuesday had came and went. Any real surprises? No. Not one. Actually, the elections were utterly predictable. And I’m not even talking about the candidates that have won their positions in office. I’m also talking about the conversations leading up to and following the elections. Below are different aspects of the Illinois election and how you should have seen it coming. (more…)
